Jogging Monitor

My heart rate was at 185 after jogging maybe 100 yards?
My cardiologist has me on a heart monitor because he believes i have a heart condition known as Supraventricular Tachycardia, and I ran up and down a small stretch of a street, maybe 50 yards each way and my heart rate was at 185 beats per minute. Would you consider that bizarre?
Heart rate increases normally with activity, but this may be increased slightly more than it should be. The most common reason for a higher than normal heart rate with exercise is deconditioning. I am not sure how well in shape you are and if this is a possibility. The maximum heart rate is 220 - your age. Your target heart rate with exercise is 50-85% of your maximum heart rate. I am not sure how old you are, but I will give you an example. If you are 20 then your maximum heart rate is 200 and the target heart rate would be 100 -170. Therefore a heart rate of 185 would be higher than it should be. This could also be related to your underlying SVT. There is a type of SVT known as inappropriate sinus tachycardia that is associated with an excessive increase in heart rate with exercise. If you get chest pain, shortness of breath or feel like you are going to pass out then you should stop and notify your doctor right away. If you otherwise feel fine with this heart rate, then it is nothing to panic about and you should decrease the intensity of your activity. I would suggest you discuss this with your cardiologist given your history of SVT. This is actually not bizarre and there are a lot of people that have higher heart rates with exercise.
