What do you consider reasonable exercise to be?

Walking or jogging 2 or 5 or 7 miles per day?

Walking to and from your car?

Lifting freeweights every other day?

Lifting magazines to read?

Yoga?

Judo?

After answering, I’d like to know if you consider yourself to be average, thick, athletic, brawny, lean, portly, etc.

It depends on what the goal is. If you want to lose weight, you are going to have to work out a little harder. If you just want to improve your health or quality of life, you could get away with less.

Your heart is a muscle and in order for you to keep it strong you have to work it. That is going to require an elevated heart rate for 20-30 minutes a day, preferably 5 days a week. You could do that with a brisk walk. Just check your heart rate. If you want to lose weight or get really fit, you will probably need to do more than just walk (unless you are really overweight and walking for 5 minutes gets you out of breath). Always build up gradually. Start with walking, then once you are comfortable with that, combine a little jogging with walking. Then it will get easier and easier to jog for longer periods of time.

I would consider myself average.
